A VQA APPROVED QUALIFICATION

Certificate IV in Finance (Accounting) is aimed at providing accounting training for students who have completed Certificate III in Financial services (Accounting) and who wish to pursue advanced training in orders to have job roles in financial services and other industries requiring accounting support functions.

Module 1: OHS and Teamwork

Days: 9
Dates: 22 March – 1 April

This module teaches the skills and knowledge required to apply general Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) requirements in the workplace. Learners also learn the skills to be able to contribute to team effectiveness and also deal with a conflict situation.

 

Module 2: Financial Calculations

Days: 13
Dates: 9- 27 April
Fees: 22,555 VT

This module teaches the skills and knowledge required to use excel spreadsheets to develop knowledge in mathematics. Learners will also learn how to perform financial calculations and apply these in a payroll system.

 

Module 3: Operational Budgeting

Days: 8
Dates: 3- 12 May
Fees: 13,880 VT

This module teaches the skills and knowledge required to organise and complete work activities, and to obtain feedback on work performance. The learner will also be able to apply these skills as the foundation to preparing an operational budget for an organisation.

 

Module 4: Financial Transaction Calculations

Days: 8
Dates: 19-28 May
Fees: 13,880 VT

This module teaches the skills and knowledge required to maintain business taxation accounting records, and to process lodgments and returns according to Vanuatu Taxation requirements as well to prepare and process routine financial documents and extract trial balance and interim reports.

 

Module 5: Cash Accounting

Days: 10
Dates: 3-16 June
Fees: 17,340 VT

This module teaches the skills and knowledge required to establish and maintain a cash accounting system, receiving, identifying and recording receipts, matching receipts to documentation, entering data into organisational operating/accounting systems and filing necessary documentation.

 

Module 6: Accrual Accounting System

Days: 10
Dates: 22 June – 5 July
Fees: 17,340 VT

This module teaches the skills and knowledge required to establish debtors and creditors, manage debt recovery, perform reconciliations and prepare reports for accrual accounting.

 

Module 7: Technology in Business

Days: 8
Dates: 9- 20 July
Fees: 13,880 VT

This module teaches the skills and knowledge required to select and use computer software and organise electronic information and data. In addition the learner gains the skills and knowledge required to correctly interpret and apply industry and organisational procedures and requirements to day-to-day work in the financial services industry.

 

Module 8: Legislation and Regulatory Requirements

Days: 8
Dates: 2- 11 August
Fees: 13,880 VT

This module teaches the skills and knowledge required to identify industry professional approaches to procedures, guidelines, policies and standards, including ethical requirements identifying and applying compliance requirements to effectively process and complete business activity statements (BAS), instalment activity statements (IAS) and other required reports.

 

Module 9: Accounting for Individuals

Days: 12
Dates: 18 Aug- 2 Sep
Fees: 20,800 VT

This module teaches the skills and knowledge required to prepare non-complex income tax returns for individuals in accordance with statutory requirements, and encompasses gathering and verifying data, calculating taxable income and reviewing compliance. In addition the learner will also learn how to process VNPF contributions.

 

Module 10: Job Costing Principles

Days: 9
Dates: 8- 20 September
Fees: 15,615 VT

This module teaches the skills and knowledge required to produce job costing information. including the gathering and recording operating and cost data and producing cost reports and maintaining inventory records.

 

Module 11: Purchasing Control and Procedures

Days: 10
Dates: 24 September – 8 October
Fees: 17,350 VT

This module teaches the skills and knowledge required to process stock orders, maintain stock levels, minimise stock losses, manage stocktakes including Implementing and maintaining internal control procedures and evaluating and authorising payment requests.

 

Module 12: Preparation of Financial Reports

Days: 18
Dates: 14 October – 8 November
Fees: 36,410 VT

This module teaches the skills and knowledge required to record general journal adjustment entries and to prepare end of period financial reports for corporate non reporting entities.

 

Module 13: Computerised Accounting Systems

Days: 12
Dates: 12- 30 November
Fees: 20,800 VT

This module teaches the skills and knowledge required to design and produce various business documents and publications using a variety of computer applications it also includes the skills and knowledge required to establish, operate, and modify an integrated computerised accounting system.

 

IMPORTANT

All modules marked with * are prerequisite modules to the Certificate IV program proper. All participants must enrol and complete the prerequisite modules before being eligible for the Certificate IV Modules.

Participants can exit at any time and receive statements of attainment for successful modules covered.

Participants must successfully complete all modules to graduate with a Certificate IV in Finance (Accounting).

Minimum entry level is Year 12 completion with a pass in Accounting or completion of Certificate II in Business Administration.

Participants completing all prerequisite modules will also be eligible for a Certificate III in Finance (Accounting) qualification.

 

Enrolment Forms can be picked up at VIT administration office or sent to your email account.

Fees can be paid by modules, multiples of modules or in full, however fees for each module must be paid in full before being allowed entry in the next.
