Partnership for Safe Business Operations Training

This past week the Department of Tourism (DoT) signed a contract for training of the Safe Business Operations (SBO) Guidelines with the Vanuatu Institute of Technology (VIT).

‘Train the trainers’ has been completed by the Australian Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) and next week will be the first training by VIT of accommodation and tour operators. These operators have flown into Port Vila to attend the National Niufala Rod Blo Tourism Week from the 26th till 29th of October. The official launching of the Safe Business Operations (SBO) Guidelines will take place at the welkam reception on Monday evening as part of the tourism week.

The training of tourism businesses falls under pillar 3 of the Vanuatu Tourism Crisis Response and Recovery Plan (VTCRRP). It is important that these tourism operators will return to their islands having completed this mandatory training to ensure they meet the measures required to be ‘Clean, Caring and Checked’ in order to carry out risk assessment, and compliance with health measures.
