A VQA APPROVED QUALIFICATION

This qualification reflects the role of individual graduates who have en-rolled in 6 months course a variety of accommodation services positions who per-form a range of mainly routine tasks using limited skills and fundamental op-erational knowledge in a defined context. Individu-als in these roles generally work under direct supervisor.

 

 Module 1 : Organize and carry out work safely

This module specifies the competency required for access consultants to work safely at client work sites. This primarily involves identifying and following the relevant occupational health and safety (OHS) duty care legislation. It also describes the outcomes required to communicate and interact effectively with other workers, gathering, conveying and receiving information through verbal and written forms of communication and participating in work relations.

 

Module 2 : General knowledge of the Tourism Industry

This Module describes the demonstration of knowledge of Tourism products and services in Vanuatu, Pacific and world destinations that compete with Vanuatu as Tourist destination.

 

Module 3 : Introduction to Travel Industry

This module deals with the skills and knowledge required to develop and update knowledge of the travel industry services, including the role of different industry sectors and key legislation. This knowledge underpins effective performance in all sectors and applies to all people working in the tourism industry

 

Module 4 : Reservation Enquiries

This Module deals with the skills and knowledge required to receive and response to reservation enquiries for a tourism or hospitality product or service offered for sale to agents or direct to the consumer.

 

Module 5 : Tour and Travel  Sales

Fees (VT): 20900

This module describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to proactively sell tourism, hospitality or event products and services. It requires the ability to identify specific customer needs, suggest a range of products to meet those needs, provide current and accurate product information, make bookings, take payments and issue travel documents.

 

Module 6 : Serve customers

Days: 10

Dates: 21Jun-02 Jul

This module describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to identify customer needs and monitor service provided to customers. Operators may exercise discretion and judgement using appropriate theoretical knowledge of customer service to provide technical advice and support to customers over either a short or a long-term interaction. It also deals with the skills and knowledge required to process simple financial transactions in a range of tourism and hospitality contexts.

 

Module 7 : Computer Technology

Days: 6

Dates: 05 Jul-16 jul

Fees (VT): 15300

This module describes the skills and knowledge required to identify, select and operate three commercial software packages, including a word-processing and spreadsheet application package. It identifies the requirement to use a word processing, spreadsheet and third software application package to ensure that the individual develops the skills required to cover a range of basic office software requirements.

Module 8 : Front Office Services

Days: 6

Dates: 19 Jul-29 Jul

Fees (VT): 10700

This Module covers the skills and knowledge required to check guests in and out of commercial accommodation establishments. It requires the ability to check daily arrivals, allocate rooms and complete relevant documentation, assist guest with luggage and provide ancillary services for guests.

Participants can exit at any time and receive statements of attainment for successful modules covered.

Participants successfully completing all modules will be eligible for a Certificate II in Hospitality (Food Preparation)

Minimum entry level is Year 10 completion with a pass grade

Fees can be paid by modules, multiples of modules or in full, however fees for each module must be paid in full before being allowed entry in the next
